Thanks everyone for your responses... It would seem that generating and viewing the PDF's should be relatively easy. The scope of my project is not so large, so the SQL Server suggestion is probably a little overkill (although very impressive, 4TB!)
Was thinking of placing a collection of documents in a folder identified by a particular order number, or location identified by the user. They could then generate to that folder, add PDF's from other sources, remove unneeded documents. The QR sounds intriguing how does that work, is that even applicable in this once....
