Thanks...I can't remember the book around fp-3 that taught me all the
wizards and builders then a few years later this group got me over the hump
on using a view with parameters and requery but I've never learned to hard
code like you guys can do. Right now I'd like to run my version of Pandora
without needing to close it everytime the phone rings to bring up another
task I wrote.  What about compiling to an .exe or .com?

It sounds to me like one of your Apps is trying to lock a file and use a 
Table Exclusively. For your purposes - you should probably open the DBF 
files in SHARED Mode - and maybe THAT will solve your problem...
