As an old xbase type, I'm beginning to believe that wordpress is the next
generation xbase that we have been looking for.

Think about it, the web portion is done for you immediately.
It already has MySql installed.
Develop your custom front end using a template and you're up and running.

I've been wanting to try and develop my buried where project using it, but
just haven't been able to focus on it in my current condition.

WordPress seems to be the one that is taking their place as they have a
framework already set up that you can build complete apps off of.

I don't have the link in front of me, but if you look, you will find that
wordpress is now like one of the top tens out there in terms of users.
