What I've not yet figured out is how she, using a limited user account
with no installation privileges, downloaded and installed some kind of a
zip program and My Search Dial modified all three browsers (IE, Firefox,
Chrome). Browser modification, sure, but she shouldn't have been able to
install an app.
Lots of apps can be installed without administrator rights--look at Chrome,
for example.
It doesn't matter where something is installed or what formal rights that
thing is granted according to OS procedure. If a smart criminal wants to
take over your machine, s/he is going to find a way to do it. period.
Nothing will stop it. And it happens all the time.
