Chromebooks are great little devices if:

1) You are happy living almost completely in the Google ecosystem.

-or-

2) You are comfortable configuring Linux (developer mode) and living without all the tight integration of Google apps and the OS.

I found to get on a VPN (OpenVPN) I had to resort to #2, when everything else worked just fine in #1. Unfortunately, they are mutually-exclusive modes. This would have been fine for me but out of the question for my customer.
