I was going to say that the dip foot switch was used by the other foot than
the break but of course I forgot you guys drive on the wrong side of the
road :)

No, because the new usage is actually quite a bit
easier. Imagine having to go to low beams and brake at the same
time. With the foot switch, it would be more awkward.
Your use case is also not a good analog. In some cases, I have
lost functionality due to Windows 7. That is not the case with the
high-beam switch.
