Jerry, I've read some of the posts on this thread and would like to know what I do. I do a lot of this.

I create a vfp executable with a timer set. There is no user interface or forms. I send all information and logging to a text file. From VFP and Python.
When the timer triggers I use the run command to call the Python executable.

Works flawlessly for long periods of time. Months without issue.

It does require Python for this, but it could easily be totally VFP. Just eliminate the user interface and be sure to send errors, notifications, and status to a text file.

I would like to create a application in visual Foxpro that monitors some
tables and triggers some alarm based on dates and times in a table and run
in background like a TSR.
Is this possible in VFP9
Thanks jerry
