Nope, I disagree there. Wet back comes from the fact that they're always working all day long in the hot heat, no matter what the conditions and no matter how poor the pay is, because even though its bad, its better then what they had where they came from.
I worked with several wet backs when I was a young kid chopping cedar for a few bucks a day, and let me tell you, they earned their money. There are two types of immigrants, those who came here the right way - perhaps taking years to do it, and those who swam the Rio Grande, slipped in past the check-points or waded onto the beach, the "wetback" term may have something to do with the water entries. I have found the ones who came the right way to be decent and pleasant.
