Tristan Many years ago I came across something like this. IIRC it was a utility in two parts - one to create the difference file and a second to update the target file. It worked with any kind of file (I tested it with DBFs, APPs and EXEs). Sorry I cannot recall any further details but thought that this might at least be encouraging in so far as there is almost certainly something out there which will do the trrick
