Hi Paul, I ship a vertical market app and have over 6000 sites running our latest product version.
Since I use several other COM and ActiveX third party tools I register the product. I do not use this method myself, though I have thought about it. Here's a link that Chilkat shared with me about side-by-side registry free COM with Chilkat http://cknotes.com/regfree-com-using-ocx-files-with-sxs-technology-in-vb6/ I ran in to the unlock code not working because we didn't keep our subscription active. That was something that got dropped in to a crack and forgotten. It happened when one of our customers installed an application that installed a newer version of the Chilkat control. If you feel that you don't want to keep the subscription active, you should consider the registry free COM method. If you are building with VFP 9 SP2 you should be able to have the manifest file somewhere that it builds in to the EXE when you build.
