Our customers had been required to set a "less secure apps" type of setting
for Yahoo.
Now they are required to use a specific "device password".

I don't have the ports handy, but I think most providers have switched to
TLS 1.2.

If the user is on a Windows 7 machine, they may need to have the latest
patches and to enable the TLS correctly for it to work.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3140245/update-to-enable-tls-1-1-an
d-tls-1-2-as-default-secure-protocols-in-wi#easy

That's a long url, here is a bitly version: https://bit.ly/2UBddmS

If they are on an older OS, I don't have any option for my customers but
suggest they upgrade the computer.

HTH,
Tracy

Subject: [NF] Yahoo Email Settings

A friend is using a program I wrote to send emails requesting a piece of
information using SMTP with CDO. The program is only used twice a year.
Last time it was used it was set up for his Sky account which worked fine
however this time it has stopped working so he set up a Yahoo account which
is not working either. Can anyone confirm the correct settings for Yahoo and
SMTP please? We have tried outgoing mail server = smtp.mail.yahoo.com, port
= 465 and 587, use ssl = .T., authenticate = .T. and username =
'name'@yahoo.com.

Thanks

John
