I prefer Sietse's idea of programming the scanner to use a prefix... just document what that prefix is and keep the barcode to scan it in handy for when some nimrod resets the scanner... (This happened to me a couple weeks ago so I'm still a bit testy about it... ) As an alternative maybe playing around with a form's KEYPRESS (or whatever) method... some fun logic to work out for other legit keystrokes, but I have every confidence in you to figure it out... <g> Matthew S.
