I too recently joined the nra after having not owned a gun for 30 years.
I still do not, but after watching what happened in new orleans, I realized
that it was time to send what little money that I had to help defend us
against our own government, so I joined as a life member..

Having a hard time making the payments of course, but I will make them.

I too wish that the UN was the lawkeeper of the world, but unless the new
management can change them, I don't see it happening just yet.

I recently joined the NRA. I took a five year membership, which provides me
a small pocket knife, a free subscription to a gun magazine of my choice,
and last but not least, a strong voice of advocacy within government to
protect second amendment rights of citizen to bear arms.
I selected the "American Rifleman" magazine of which I have received the
December 2006 and January 2007 issues.

The UN is still in its infancy; developing, evolving, and learning. In time
the UN could become an organization that lives up to its potential to act as
a mediator between conflicting countries in help to resolve disputes in a
peaceful manner, to act as a world wide guardian of human rights, and to act
as an advocate for a healthy, clean planet.

It is up to the countries that make up the UN to shape it into an
organization that meet the challenges of the future.

LelandJ
