Replication is nice.  Clustering is great for having that 24x7 thing going
on all the time.  Management tools who needs em?  <hahahahahaha>   Frosting
you quote?  Those are nice features that you need on a daily basis.

What?  Put down that spliff.  SPs are great for enforcing security.  I can
define that you CANNOT do a select against the tables in my db.  Sorry but
tough!  You can get access to all the data via SPs that I create.  Puts a
great stop to data theft from internal sources.

Some people don't mind spending the money for them, their value is far
greater then the few thousand dollars your looking at.
