It's no so much "fixing" a problem as not having the exactly correct
driver for your machine. There are a lot of propritary and
underdocumented chipsets out there. I have several machines around
here I need to boot with nodma, nopcmicia, acpi=off or safe. The
remakarble thing is that Knoppix will boot (eventually) on so many
oddball systems.
