but they're *not* working on the desktop they are using a 'thin client'** -

It may be I'm a bit sensitive about 'thin clients' - my employers are in
the process of rolling out Wyse terminals + Citrix to replace 95% of pc's
("what goes around comes around" - but sometimes in reverse! - one of the
factors that did lead to the takeup of [IBM] pc's was that they could
replace dumb terminals, and were cheaper. The Wyse terminals are now
cheaper - but not much, it's really all a control thing.
