Virgil, most Americans get their "news", aka view of the world around them, from one of the media baron's networks. Do some googling, there's tons of stuff on the subject. Try searching on "media consolidation". > These same people that you so despise buy the same stuff we > do and eat the same stuff we do. They put their pants on one > leg at a time, same as we do. They made that war happen, and we didn't. > These priests that you are talking about are decimating their > own selves by chasing little boys or by asking for your > donations so that they can do what they tell you not to do. That was Puff and his the media spotlight out-doing himself. In fact, these occurrences were statistically within the norm, if not less. That means a lot, if you think about it. They are no different then the population at large. But the perception changed the reality, and now the ranks here in American have taken a nose dive. Not true in the rest of the world, but true here. Hasn't it occurred to you that priests contribute something to society? Maybe they don't deserve headlines every day, but just bad stuff all the time? Seems I'm not the only one to notice this. In fact, it's so blatant that the media itself is acknowledging it (I think it's called "getting in front of the story"). From today's "news": Why is it okay to attack God, Christians? - Scarborough Country - MSNBC.com http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17971622/ Commentary: What would Jesus really do? http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/04/04/martin.jesus/index.html > These same people that are putting more of us in jail are > doing so because people like you and me are letting them do so. Then we're going to do everything we can to change it, right? BTW, I am aware there are some people who can't run around free, but that doesn't mean they have to be treated like animals. And then there's the half that don't deserve being in jail in the first place. Drug users aren't criminals until they commit a crime. This whole business of making it a crime to hurt yourself is a contradiction to the spirit of freedom and the pursuit of happiness. That the state is taking one power over us after the other is precisely the opposite of the original plan, which was to limit the authority of gov't and have it accountable to the people, and specifically not to become master of the people. We've been bamboozled. > We have become a nation of hypocrites' that don't care what > is done to others as long as it doesn't affect us. There's all kinds of attitudes out there, but I do believe there are plenty of people in this country who passionately believe in the spirit of America. I'm one of them. We know all about sex-offenders these days, right? What about country-offenders? > We let ourselves be told that we have to wear helmets or seat belts > because we do not have the cajones to stand up and say "FREEDOM" FREEDOM!
