Kent: Check 2 things: 1. Make sure the router does not have a MAC address filter installed; if it does add your MAC address getting access to your router from a working machine 2. If you have w WEP or WPA encryption turned on make sure the remote laptop has the same key and that you have properly selected shared or open as the options dedending on how the router is configured.
