scripting/functions?

Check out SQL Compare: http://www.red-gate.com/

We use it to generate update scripts when updating our studios POS
software.
Pick two databases and it scripts the differences: tables, stored procs,
users... handles it all. Highly recommended.

This can create a database creation script, but it can't create a
database update script. I need an adaptable script that will detect the
current state of the database(what fields, indexes, etc. are present),
and update accordingly to the current version.

Thanks.
