The Justice Department is not an independent branch, the *Judiciary* is, but 
not the Justice Department. The Justice Department is part of the President's 
administration, or Cabinet, and the higher officers of it serve at the 
pleasure of the president.

He can fire them all for any reason, or for no reason. Or he can fire them 
selectively, as he did in this case. The Ds are raving about it because they 
know that people such as you will get confused and go all crazy.
