Hi Everybody! My health is embarrassingly poor. Although for the last 30 years I have watched my weight, taken vitamins and minerals, never smoked, never did drugs, rarely drank and never to excess when I did drink - in spite of all that those last two car accidents and the diabetes for 10 years have me really down.
There is no effective Chinese Medicine for diabetes although you can find people in my profession to take your money claiming they can take care of it. I have to present myself to the "other service" for diabetes. The accident injuries are being managed quite well now by one of my Chinese Medicine colleagues, but it took over a year to zero in on that . I had a Vietnamese MD a few years ago who was doing ok with the diabetes but the bureaucrats won't let me see him any more because I am too old. They rationed me out of that system with a red-herring of pointless paperwork while I was really messed up from the second accident and couldn't keep my math straight. For a year they insisted on a monthly profit and loss sheet from me every month before I could have my diabetes medicine, and I can't do math even when I'm well! The long and the short of that was that I didn't get the medicine for months. They freely admitted that had I been an illiterate illegal who spoke only Spanish I would have gotten all I wanted with no paperwork at all, and claimed that this discrimination was "because of Bush". When I finally got the books done to their satisfaction then they hit me with the "too old" excuse and still refused to let me see the doctor I had been seeing for years who knew my case. They couldn't just have said "too old" out front. I wound up in the emergency room on Christmas Eve and they still wouldn't admit any wrongdoing. Then I went to the "old people" clinic. The people there made me do all the paperwork over again in "their" system, apply for medicaid and take some kind of "education" before I got to see a doctor. Then there is a 6 to 8 WEEK wait (after you have paid) for diabetes medicine. You might get some samples if they have them but the doctor has to give them to you. The doctor doesn't KNOW he has to give them to you, and won't believe it if you tell him, so you have to go see the medicine lady first who sends you back to the doctor, who is gone to lunch by then, everyone being impatient with you at every turn. You also pay money at every paperwork desk, every time. I remember reading articles in the '50s about how things were all screwed up in then communist Russia. This is little different, except we have to pay "user fees" at every desk for this. May as well nationalize our healthcare, it couldn't be any worse if we did. OK, now I have 2 bottles of Insulin and two more on the way. But it cost me about $50, took all day today and half a day last week. That is the "charity" "old people" clinic. God help me if I were "middle income". -- Regards, Pete http://www.pete-theisen.com/ _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
