It is even worse than that, M$ Office sabotages Acrobat. When you create a PDF from a M$ Office program, it sets the default for Acrobat to have "send fonts" OFF. If you are doing anything with non- standard fonts, unless you remember to override that setting or know how to set it "on" as *your* default, the documents won't look right.
