Ken, If it has a HP make sure you are using the HP drivers for the wireless network card rather than the windows supplied drivers. The install for the HP stuff can normally be found off the main start/programs display.
This caught me out a couple of times when I had to reformat my HP laptop as the default wireless drivers from XP just do NOT work.
