I'm seeing a few things going on... It did something odd that I haven't tracked down yet, but the upshot is that my local network connection fires up right off the bat, but internet access via IE or Windows Explorer doesn't. It takes a solid 10 minutes for it to connect ( I can tell from the network connection icon lighting up )at which point IE and WE work fine. The punchline? During this time, firefox and Opera work great online. Odd. I think it wacked a service somewhere....I'm still poking through the Admin logs to see what's up.
Every morning I do a large amount of inter-folder file copying of image files, loads of dragging and dropping with an ftp upload via windows explorer at the end of it. Since installation, the drag and drop action is just painfully slow. This part of the morning routine usually takes about 25 minutes to complete; that time is easily doubled while I endure the agony of the slow, slow, slowness. As far as I can tell, it is related to the first problem, as normal speeds resume once the network connection decides to function properly. I was really looking forward to SP1's fixing of the copy speeds within folders, but... no go, at least for now. I noticed SP1 turned back on a lot of the services I turned off. Nothing horrible, just a PITA. I really don't need Media Center, Tablet PC services, and so on.
