I've read several discussions about why the Tree of Knowledge of Good and
Evil was placed in the Garden of Eden. To me, it was probably there to
allow us to exercise our free will to obey God. And, in the proper
exercising of that choice, we would have grown closer to Him. Of course it
didn't happen that way, and now all our judgement is clouded. But I think
that's about the best brief explanation I have for now.

Well, you are choosing now right? You reject that God could possibly exist
because He doesn't fit into your definition of what "makes sense."

I too find it very sorrowful that billions will not choose God. But it's
wonderful that billions will choose God.

Well don't forget about Lucifer. If he hadn't been there, things probably
would be different. He used his most powerful weapon against humanity in
the Garden: deception. He told Eve if she ate of the Tree she would be
"like God" herself. And today, that same deception is still incredibly
attractive: we make our own rules and some belive that one day we'll know
all about the universe. People usually think that Satan's power is in evil
actions and deeds. I believe that is completely wrong. Satan's major power
is deception and the way he uses it against man's pride.
