Sytze - usually a 'pipe' would look like this - PC->lan->router->isp->internet<-->your email server
Some ISP's block smtp traffic on all outgoing mail unless it's set to their email servers (and of course, since your email server ain't theirs, is blocked). Some ISP's do allow for alt ports for smtp - you might want to review the use of alt ports with blat, and 'test' it with those customer sites who can't get your email subsystem to work. Failing all that, you'd had to have a service agreement in place with your clients' ISPs to allow for 'relaying' through to your email servers. If there was any confusion between pop3 vs smtp here, my apologies.
