So you are using RAID for mirroring (I think that's RAID 1) ?

Chances are you need on the 'same size' or bigger. I say 'same size' 
because once when formatting a replacement drive for one of our RAID 5 
arrays even though the replacement drive listed the same specs, it came 
up about 1800 bytes short (out of something like 150G)... I was 
displeased.....
