Man, am I glad I selected PostgreSQL! It is not because I foresaw a company wrestling control of the solution from the Open Source gallery, then charging for some or all of its features. It is because I was really gunshy about any possible misunderstandings about its dual-license, and where it would leave me and my clients if I did as many do, and use it for free regardless of any alleged misunderstanding. Had I foreseen Sun acquiring it, then opting to start to profit (e-gads!) from MySQL as a product, I would have wasted far less time mulling over the Great MySQL vs PostgreSQL debate.
Oh well, let's just hope that never, ever happens with Linux! Or PostgreSQL! Or OpenOffice... Time will tell, it always does. At that, the MySQL fees will not likely affect the majority of lighter duty users (for now <g>).
