I looked at it in FF and Safari on Mac (just for technical research  
of this behavior, of course), and it took a long time (30+ seconds)  
to load even small images. I don't know who designed it or what  
problem the designer was trying to solve, but it is a ridiculous  
control. It looked to me like it was designed to open images that  
were larger than the screen at below-screen resolution, so it would  
all fit, even though most images are even smaller than 640x480. Don't  
most browsers do that by default? Even IE?
