FWIW I didn't see your mail as a *huge* transgression, although it 
plainly did break the rules. Rules and laws are so black and white, 
while the real world is a spectrum.

Personally, I'm for anarchy on the mailing lists because I think the 
users of the list can sort it out for themselves. Ultimately, they can 
choose to leave, for example.

When I'm about to break a rule (I do it all the time, especially while 
riding my bike in traffic), I think about the intent of the rule and 
determine if I agree with the intent and if so if I'm breaking the intent.

For Profox, the intent of the rules is to keep the signal to noise ratio 
high (on topic, and the topic for this group is FoxPro).

So did you break the intent of the rules? Yes, I guess you did. But does 
the mainstream of this mailing list care? I doubt it, given your tenure 
here and your lack of history of posting wildly off-topic things.

People that always insist on the rules being followed to the letter of 
the law need to get out more.
