A republic is a state or country that is not led by a hereditary
monarch. The single common principal, however is that their power
structure is, de jure, not the preserve of a royal family or
aristocracy.

Democracy is a system of government by which political sovereignty is
retained by the people and either exercised directly by citizens or
through their elected representatives.

The United States of America is guaranteed a republican form of
government. However, their legislatures are an example of a democracy,
in which the majority vote of the legislators enact law.

QED the USA is both a republic and a democracy.

Cheers

Adam.

Repeat slowly the Pledge of Allegiance.

*I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to
the
republic for which it stands,

*
See it says Republic right there!
