There a a number or aspects of our physical world which millennia ago were
contradictory and unexplainable - 'a mystery' until science explained it.
The terms 'contradictory and absurd' are often nothing more than 'we don't
understand it at all'. At the subatomic level many of the laws of physics
seem not to apply. Particles exist and behave in manners that are
contradictory and absurd. The arrogance is in thinking that something is
wrong because you personally cannot understand it and fit it into your
mindset. The universe is bigger than you. God is vastly bigger than you and
your understanding (or not) of both doesn't alter their existence in any
shape or form.

Reminds me of the George Carlin bit about going to Catholic school --
when obviously self-contradictory or patently absurd tenets of the
Faith came up and got questioned by students, the priests would
answer "Well, it's a mystery." Gee thanks, father. That clears it all
up.
