It's good to have the authorities show proof of identity. 
If this incident had happened in Iraq, the authority at the 
door would more than likely be a member of one of the ethnic 
cleaning factions that were operating throughout Iraq 
masquerading as policemen, and Mr. Gates dead, cold body 
would show up in a few day along side a roads somewhere with 
signs of torture.
