      Considering the strength of my remarks, I should make a similar 
statement.  Many people contribute to their respective 
communities.  MVPs are but SOME of them.  I have never heard an 
inkling from Microsoft regarding my contributions over the years, and 
I expect this is so for many others.

      So how are MVPs selected?  Without knowing that, I do not trust 
an MVP by reason of that person being an MVP.  In fact, knowing how 
self-serving Microsoft is, I tend to trust such a person less unless 
I have other information.
