I think that over the years this way of writing SQL made a lot of us (okay - ME) lazy over time... when I saw SET ENGINEBEHAVIOR come out I knew the time had come to start doing it right, and as it happens that's when I started using PostgreSQL where I HAD to do it the correct way... I think this is one of the top three things that non-VFP folks would criticize about the VFP language: 1) untyped variables 2) non-standard SQL (as you've just seen) and 3) config parameters (SET things ON/OFF and such in the config.fp) would drive these people nuts....
