Hi Nicholas, I just visited Detroit, my childhood home town. Your vacant house might be torched in the night but the arsonist probably won't track you down and shoot you. About 40 murders per 100K population in Detroit. I know Detroit well enough to find my way anywhere there. I did not feel especially apprehensive getting out of the truck to take a few pictures, even in the colored ghetto where I spent my earliest years, but the images I left with are disturbing. But no shots were fired at me, or even heard in the distance. There was regular gunfire when I left in the early 80s, it was a factor in my decision to leave. So Detroit, and I think all of the US, is better now than before - at least in regard to murder. That said, what is driving segregation is smaller crimes, and amazing rudeness. If you object to the small crimes or the rudeness you are a racist. I got tired of it. -- Regards, Pete http://pete-theisen.com/ http://elect-pete-theisen.com/ _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
