Mike, If you decide to invest in a low-cost hosting service for the long haul, I recommend you take a good look at webfaction.com.
I'm very impressed with their service. They also have great Python support in case you decide to step over to the dark side. Very highly recommended!! I also second Ed's recommendation to look at Rackspace. The reason why I chose Webfaction over Rackspace was because I was looking for a managed solution where the hosting vendor handles all system software upgrades (OS, web servers, database servers, etc). The Rackspace choice offers you much more freedom with the tradeoff that you need to handle your system maintenance tasks yourself.
