Solution found.... VFP uses non positional ? placeholders and not @name placeholders that SQL server uses. I knew about the non positional bit but had forgotten about the "?" as I have spent the last few months dealing with SQL Server and not VFP tables in a C/S environment.
One for experience there methinks and a warning for anyone else!
