I use the same phone. You can turn the keyboard on and off by pulling down the notification bar while you're in a text field, and tapping the "Switch Keyboard" notification. It's not a perfect solution, though, unless your J keyboard is good enough for routine use. I personally use MessageEase, which is good enough.
