The last few days I have been piddling around with the VS Code editor.

Why another editor?

I decided to give VS Code a try because it is recommended for many of the
systems I use, Python, Lean, Git, TeX Live, ....

It’s also cross OS, it runs on Windows, MAC, Linux. Making it easier to flip
from one to another.

Upon installing VS Code I was pleased to see J is supported by tikkanz (Ric
Sherlock)’s extension that provides syntax coloring and opens jconsole.exe when
working with .ijs files.

jconsole running as a J terminal under VS Code is a very effective J working
setup. It’s better than cmd or bash and gives JHS and JQT some serious
competition. It’s particularly useful for JOD which is a pure bare bones
console oriented tool.

I see lots of J users have already downloaded the J extension but if you
haven’t tried this setup yet it’s worth a peek.
