I’ve now come to think about left-to-right folds to just be un-J.
Maybe it’s better to have custom implementations for the pattern
(|. x) <fold verb> y
where x is still the array of controls and y is the initial data.
Cut the number of F primitives in half and have people be explicit
about whether or not to reverse (|.).
