A new version of the stats/base addon has been released.
It includes the following new verbs:

quantiles v quantiles of y at the specified probabilities x
nquantiles v values which partition y into x quantiles
iqr v inter-quartile range (IQR) of y
ntiles v assign values of y to x quantiles

There has been discussion in the forums over the years on the "correct"
definition of median, and more generally how to calculate quantiles (e.g.
quartiles, quintiles etc). Part of the reason for this is that there is no
generally agreed method for calculating quantiles. Nevertheless, a number
of widely used language libraries, including R, Julia and Numpy now use the
same default method - now also the default for J.

When the topic of quantiles would arise on the forum, Fraser Jackson would
usually respond with a well considered answer that I confess often seemed
way too complicated for my simple brain. Inspired by his passing last year,
I've finally taken the time to fully digest the ideas he was trying to
convey and have added them to the stats/base addon. Fraser was a consummate
gentleman with great enthusiasm for all things J.
