==Report on the J wiki meeting of February 24, 2022==

Present: Art Anger, Will Gajate, Jon Hough, Raul Miller, Bob Therriault

1)Will presented an update on the J playground
https://jsoftware.github.io/j-playground/bin/html/emj.html A drop down menu
has been added to allow access to the teaser video, github source, download
instructions, wiki, NuVoc and some J code examples. Eric Iverson had sent an
email earlier in the week, letting us know that he would be available for
peripheral development when he finished up his work on the ArrayFire add-on. We
had a look at the utiljs.ijs script and the core.ijs and jijx.ijs scripts to
see how the emsripten browser version of J might be able to replace JHS. With
that superficial survey, the question was raised as to whether the new browser
version of J may be part of a larger review of the JHS platform. That will be a
question that we will raise with Eric. Raul mentioned that because the J
Playground does not need to wait for a server, it may make animation with J a
possibility. In any case, the J playground looks like it will be ready for the
next iteration of improvement before it is completely up to speed at the end of
April.

2)Bob presented feedback that had been received on the prototype pages
https://code.jsoftware.com/wiki/Wiki/prototype_landing_page, which has been
largely positive, although there were some comments on the font being too
large. Bob felt that the large font served the function of keeping navigation
simple, but Raul pointed out that the real issue may have been that the
responder may have felt that some information might have been missing and the
more important fact may have been what was perceived to be missing and should
have been added if the font are smaller.

3)The next discussion was about the process of introducing the new wiki pages.
The plan is to make them available for evaluation over the next two months and
then bring them online as the new face of the wiki. During those two months,
Bob will do a series of videos explaining the rationale for the changes and
creating an easy method of feedback through youtube comments.

4)Art Anger presented the progress that he has made on an entry level page,
"Where to Start"
https://code.jsoftware.com/wiki/User:Art_Anger/Where_to_StartAA , that will
eventually be responsive to the experience of the viewer - more foundational
for newcomers and more detailed for experienced J users.

For the first time, we actually ran about 13 minutes long for the 1 hour
meeting.

If you are interested in being involved with this process please reply to the
general forum. We welcome any comments or suggestions that you might have.
