Welcome to the J programming community. As a relative newcomer, let me suggest that you undertake a variety of less ambitious projects before attempting to apply J to a neural net system. I anticipate that the difficulties of that problem domain will be better handled when difficulties of reading and writing J are not foremost. I have interest in this area. In particular, I'd like to build a Holland classifier system. If that is close enough to a neural network to interest you, I'll work to make time to collaborate. As neural nets go, that's on the very simple side, I think.
