I certainly get the verb in the top left when I use the standard library
version of table:
  * table i.5

|*|0 1 2  3  4|
+-+-----------+
|0|0 0 0  0  0|
|1|0 1 2  3  4|
|2|0 2 4  6  8|
|3|0 3 6  9 12|
|4|0 4 8 12 16|
+-+-----------+
