I suspect this question might have been prompted by
the arguments I have been making for [. and ]. to be
reimplemented as functions. Because the old Lev and
Dex were conjunctions they were not very useful and
would not do the kind of substitutions I've been pressing
for.
Previous exchanges with Raul Miller show examples,
but I would stress that all the times I have in the
[somewhat distant] past been forced from tacit to
explicit coding, the functions [. and ]. would have
allowed tacit. At least, that is as I remember it.
Since I have taught and advocated tacit coding to
students as a joy and delight (and students without
a C background or the like have usually agreed with
me) my regret at its limitations is surely understandable.
