As Eric and I had suggested, you must first find out in which way that does your
syllabif support unicode. Please read the synopsis page for your syllabif on
handling of unicode, eg. does it use utf8 or utf16 or does not support unicode
at all. Without this knowledge, you said that it worked in the past was a pure
luck.
