If you are looking for a javascript way to do it, send me an example png
and explain a little bit what do you want your webpage to do when the
user click or mouseover the png, and I will code a javascript function
for you that serves this purpose. You will then have a good idea on how
to do similar things.

if you have to get input from the user as clicks on the PNG, let me
know how you did it. i'm interested in how, given a plot, you can
translate a pixel x,y to the chart coordinate system.
