I have read that forum, but have not seen what you
described. In response to your suggestions that J be
among the evaluated languages what has been said is
very generic. There is no interest there specific to
J. The message seems to be: "Submit solutions to the
benchmarking problems, if you wish, taking care to fit
all requirements. If we wish, we'll include them in
the project publication."

Bringing that "shootout" project to the attention of
this forum has had some beneficial results, such as
bringing the meteor puzzle under examination. It has
also provoked some stimulating conversation regarding
comparison of programming languages.

The vague answer to Alistair Tucker's question is that
there has not been enough interest among J coders to
build a broad set of entries. (It makes perfect sense
that only a broad set will be considered for
inclusion.) The adequate answer is the one indicated
by Henry Rich: Fitting the requirements of that
project too often involves avoiding the most important
aspects of this language, so the solutions that will
fit there will not have a useful relationship with
what it makes sense to write in J.
