Hi,

3 i. (i. 5) index is useful.  I wondered where the convention came from of
having not found equal the # count of items (since all valid indexes are
zero to n-1) came from?  Is this because it is more efficient to use a
unsigned integer in the C code that constitutes J since we are making better
use of the number space?

I sometimes get a version of coders writers block due to previous ingrained
conventions whereby not found would be null / NaN / -1 / 0 / false, etc.
